Some background about the Public Service Network – how it started as an initiative under the Irish Chapter of the 30% Club, its membership, and how the Network is organised.

The Public Sector Network was established in 2019 as an initiative under the 30% Club Ireland to help promote gender balance across civil and public service.

The 30% Club Public Sector Network aims to achieve this by sharing ideas and good practice, drawing on common opportunities and experiences while recognising the different challenges that exist in various sectors. It aims to engage both men and women and to work alongside formal and informal structures to promote shared aims around a good working experience for all staff.

The Network is intended as a complementary activity to broader developments on national policies on gender equality and on civil service and public service regulations and terms of employment.

A Working Committee, set up in 2020, leads the work of the Public Sector Network under the guidance of an Advisory Committee. Membership of the current Working Committee is drawn from right across the public service, with representatives from the agriculture, defence, health, higher education and local government sectors, An Garda Síochána, and the Public Appointments Service.
